Centrum Air service strengthens Uzbekistan-Pakistan connectivity, boosting tourism, business ties and people-to-people contacts
KARACHI, Wednesday, September 3, 2026 (WNP): Direct flights between Tashkent and Karachi have been launched by Uzbekistan’s Centrum Air, marking a significant step towards strengthening air connectivity and people-to-people ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
The new service commenced on September 3, with the airline’s Airbus A320 arriving in Karachi from Tashkent at 4:20 a.m. local time.
In keeping with the traditional welcome for inaugural flights, the aircraft received a ceremonial water-cannon salute upon arrival at Karachi Airport.
The welcoming ceremony was attended by representatives of the Sindh provincial administration and local government authorities, members of the diplomatic corps in Karachi, representatives of the Sindh Tourism Development Corporation, airlines, tour operators and the media.
Speaking at the ceremony, representatives of the Sindh provincial government described the launch as another practical step by Uzbekistan towards bringing the two brotherly peoples closer together.
They said the new direct connection would help increase tourist flows, facilitate business contacts and strengthen business diplomacy between the two countries.
The launch further expands direct air connectivity between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, with the number of direct flights between the two countries now reaching eight per week.
The new Karachi-Tashkent service is expected to provide additional opportunities for tourism, trade, investment and closer interaction between the peoples of Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
