Zelenskyy, UAE President discuss security cooperation, offer of Ukrainian expertise in defense

ABU DHABI, Saturday, March 28, 2026 (WNP): President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi to discuss enhanced security cooperation and joint defense initiatives.

President Zelenskyy said the meeting underscored Ukraine’s commitment to global security, emphasizing that “terror must not prevail anywhere in the world” and that sufficient protection must be ensured in all nations. He highlighted the strategic value of collaboration to strengthen the protection of citizens and critical infrastructure in both countries.

The discussions covered the security situation in the Emirates, including Iranian strikes and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which has implications for the global oil market. Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine’s experience in defending cities under constant attacks for over four years provides valuable expertise in countering drones and missile threats.

“Our systematic approach to air defense, which delivers a significant interception rate, is exactly what we are offering to our partners,” Zelenskyy said, emphasizing Ukraine’s readiness to share knowledge and work jointly to enhance regional security.

 

The UAE president expressed appreciation for the Ukrainian team’s contributions and their operational expertise in the Emirates. Both sides agreed to cooperate in the field of security and defense, with their respective teams set to finalize the details of the partnership.

Zelenskyy concluded by expressing gratitude for the meeting and the Emirati leadership’s readiness to collaborate, describing the agreements as a step toward stronger bilateral security ties.
