US Vice President JD Vance lauds Pakistan’s role in Islamabad Talks, praises efforts to bridge US–Iran divide

ISLAMABAD, Sunday, April 12, 2026 (WNP): United States Vice President J. D. Vance has appreciated Pakistan’s role in hosting the Islamabad Talks between the United States and Iran, commending its leadership for facilitating dialogue aimed at easing regional tensions.

In his remarks, the US Vice President thanked Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their efforts in hosting and managing the high-level negotiations in Islamabad.

He acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in attempting to bridge differences between the two sides, stating that any shortcomings in the talks could not be attributed to Pakistan.

“They did an outstanding job and tried to bridge the gap and get to a deal,” he remarked, highlighting Islamabad’s facilitative approach throughout the process.

The statement reflects growing international recognition of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in bringing the two sides to the negotiating table and supporting ongoing peace initiatives in the region.
