Türkiye, Kazakhstan sign 13 agreements to deepen strategic partnership

ASTANA, Thursday, May 14, 2026 (WNP): President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Thursday witnessed the signing of 12 agreements and one joint declaration between Türkiye and Kazakhstan aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

Addressing a joint press conference in Astana, President Erdoğan said relations between the two brotherly countries were advancing on stronger foundations with each passing day, particularly in trade, energy, transportation, education and investment.

He said the newly signed agreements would further reinforce strategic cooperation and open new avenues for collaboration between the two nations.

President Erdoğan noted that the Türkiye-Kazakhstan Business Forum would create fresh opportunities for the business communities of both countries and stressed the importance of enhancing mutual investments.

Highlighting Kazakhstan’s significance in Türkiye’s energy strategy, Erdoğan said the East-West Corridor carried strategic importance not only for trade but also for regional energy security.

The Turkish president reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with friendly and brotherly nations, adding that Türkiye attached great importance to promoting unity and solidarity within the Turkic world.

He expressed confidence that the upcoming meeting of the Organization of Turkic States in Turkestan would further advance regional solidarity and cooperation.

President Erdoğan also welcomed the participation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as an observer in the meeting, expressing hope that the agreements signed would benefit both nations and further strengthen the longstanding brotherhood between Türkiye and Kazakhstan.
