Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Trump said, “We totally control the Strait of Hormuz,” while praising the capabilities of the US Navy.

He also said he remained highly distrustful of Tehran. His remarks were reported amid continuing tensions between Washington and Tehran and renewed uncertainty over efforts to end the conflict.

The comments came as the conflict and maritime tensions in the region continued, with recent attacks reported around strategic shipping routes. Iran had maintained its position on the Strait of Hormuz while the United States continued maritime operations linked to its blockade of Iranian ports.
