ISLAMABAD, Thursday, April 23, 2026 (WNP): Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in Pakistan on Thursday celebrated its National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, reaffirming its commitment to future generations while paying tribute to the founding leadership and martyrs who laid the foundations of the Republic.

The day commemorates the historic opening of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye in 1920, a defining moment in the country’s struggle for sovereignty and democratic governance.

Marking the 106th anniversary of the landmark occasion, the nation remembered with profound gratitude the founder of modern Türkiye, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, alongside the heroes of the War of Independence and all those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

National Sovereignty and Children’s Day holds a unique place in Türkiye’s history as it is dedicated to children—the custodians of the country’s future—symbolizing hope, unity, and continuity of national values.

Across Türkiye, ceremonies, cultural events, and educational activities were held to celebrate the day, reflecting the country’s enduring commitment to sovereignty, democracy, and the well-being of its younger generations.
