Riyadh meeting reviews threats facing Saudi Arabia; three countries agree to deepen intelligence sharing, military coordination and defence capabilities
RIYADH, Friday, September 25, 2026 (WNP): The Chiefs of Defence Forces and Chiefs of General Staff of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye on Friday held a meeting in Riyadh under the framework of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, reaffirming their commitment to collective defence and to translating the agreement into effective military cooperation.
The military chiefs reviewed the security situation and threats facing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and strongly condemned the attacks targeting the Holy City of Makkah as well as civilian and economic infrastructure in the Kingdom.
The participants commended the vigilance and professionalism of the Saudi Armed Forces in protecting the people and safeguarding the security of the Kingdom.
They discussed measures to further strengthen cooperation among the armed forces of the three countries, with particular focus on enhanced intelligence sharing, military coordination and integration of defence capabilities to strengthen deterrence and collective defence.
The military leaders also highlighted the longstanding relations and mutual trust between the peoples and armed forces of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye, describing the Riyadh meeting as a reflection of the strength of their defence partnership.
They expressed a shared determination to immediately translate the commitments under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement into practical and effective military cooperation.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to collective defence and underscored the determination of the three countries to safeguard the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The meeting followed discussions among the foreign ministers of the three countries in New York on September 25, where they had discussed arrangements for an urgent meeting of the military chiefs under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, signed by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye on August 7, provides a framework for collective defence cooperation among the three countries.
