ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, June 23, 2026 (WNP): President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian met Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments and ways to further strengthen strategic cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the evolving regional security environment and reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting peace, stability and constructive engagement across the region.

President Pezeshkian and Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination in the fields of security, defence and border management, while reaffirming their resolve to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting also underscored the longstanding brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Iran, founded on shared history, common faith, cultural affinity and mutual respect, as both sides expressed confidence that closer collaboration would contribute to regional peace, security and prosperity.
The engagement formed part of President Pezeshkian’s state visit to Pakistan, aimed at further expanding bilateral cooperation and strengthening the strategic partnership between Islamabad and Tehran.
