PM Shehbaz returns after concluding Switzerland visit, participation in high-level Islamabad MoU talks

ZURICH, Monday, June 22, 2026 (WNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif departed for Pakistan on Monday after concluding his official visit to Switzerland, where he participated in the high-level discussions on the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (Islamabad MoU) in Bürgenstock.

The prime minister was accompanied by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who also took part in the high-level negotiations held on June 21 as part of the follow-up process to the Islamabad MoU aimed at advancing dialogue between the United States and Iran.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a series of important meetings with international leaders and senior officials on the sidelines of the talks, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to promoting dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful conflict resolution.

The high-level discussions concluded successfully with participants agreeing on a roadmap toward a comprehensive agreement within the next 60 days, the establishment of a High-Level Committee to provide political oversight, and the continuation of technical-level negotiations.

At Zurich Airport, the prime minister was seen off by senior Swiss government officials and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Marghoob Saleem Butt.

Pakistan hosted and facilitated the high-level discussions under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, reinforcing its growing diplomatic role in promoting regional peace, stability and constructive international engagement.
