ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, June 3, 2026 (WNP): A ceremony marking the 37th anniversary of the demise of Imam Khomeini (RA) was held at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad, where speakers paid rich tribute to the founding leader of the Iranian Revolution and highlighted his ideological legacy and regional influence.

The event brought together prominent Pakistani political and religious figures, academics, intellectuals, teachers, and journalists. Speakers lauded Imam Khomeini (RA) for his revolutionary vision, his role in promoting unity among Muslim societies, and his consistent support for oppressed communities and resistance against injustice.

Participants said Iran’s present strength and global standing were rooted in the “far-sighted vision” of Imam Khomeini (RA).

The leadership and sacrifices associated with the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (RA) had further strengthened Iran’s resilience and resistance against the United States and Israel, they added.

Addressing the gathering, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran Reza Amiri Moghaddam said even 37 years after Imam Khomeini’s passing, his ideas and principles continued to inspire Iran and oppressed nations around the world. He paid tribute to Imam Khomeini (RA) and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (RA), saying that Iran’s leadership had dedicated its struggle to the cause of Islam and Muslim unity.

The ceremony also featured speeches by prominent Pakistani figures including Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, former ambassador Asif Ali Khan Durrani, Senator Kamran Murtaza (JUI), National Assembly member Sughra Kamran (PPP), Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Chief Liaqat Baloch, Allama Syed Jawad Naqvi, and former senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed.

Speakers praised Iran’s revolutionary spirit and said Imam Khomeini’s (RA) leadership had transformed the trajectory of Islamic resistance movements globally. They added that the Islamic Revolution demonstrated Islam’s capacity to guide nations towards dignity, progress, and prosperity.

Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi said Imam Khomeini’s path and ideas remained alive in the hearts of those seeking a life free from oppression and domination. Sughra Kamran said external aggression against Iran had only strengthened the Iranian nation’s resolve and unity.

Liaqat Baloch noted that Imam Khomeini’s message was not limited to any single country but served as guidance for all freedom-seeking nations, calling for renewed study of his thoughts and ideology.

Mushahid Hussain Sayed praised Iran’s resilience, stating that its strength stemmed from Imam Khomeini’s comprehensive ideological framework and the “wise leadership” associated with Ayatollah Khamenei (RA).
