ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, January 27, 2026 (WNP): The Pakistan–Türkiye National Essay Competition 2025 concluded on Tuesday with an awards ceremony held at the Embassy, celebrating academic excellence while paying tribute to the enduring bonds between the two brotherly countries.

The competition was organised in memory of Turkish engineers Cenk Yalçın and Ufuk Arslan, who lost their lives in a tragic fire incident on November 29, 2005, while serving in Pakistan as part of technical missions launched in the aftermath of the devastating 2005 earthquake.

Their dedication and sacrifice, officials said, remain a powerful symbol of the deep-rooted fraternity, solidarity and humanitarian cooperation between Türkiye and Pakistan.

Students from across Pakistan participated in the nationwide competition, submitting essays on the theme “Pakistan–Türkiye Relations: An Enduring Bond.” Through their writings, participants reflected on the shared history, cultural affinity and spirit of brotherhood that have long characterised relations between the two nations, while also offering perspectives on a shared future built on cooperation and mutual respect.

Speakers at the ceremony highlighted the importance of such academic and cultural initiatives in strengthening people-to-people ties and fostering greater understanding among younger generations. They noted that encouraging critical thinking and creative expression on themes of shared heritage helps reinforce the values of solidarity and friendship that underpin Pakistan–Türkiye relations.

Congratulating the winners and participants, the organisers commended the students for honouring the legacy of the two engineers through thoughtful and insightful contributions. They said the competition not only commemorated a poignant chapter in bilateral relations but also served as a platform for young voices to contribute to the continued strengthening of the enduring partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye.
