Pakistan, Saudi Fund for Development reaffirm economic partnership at Spring Meetings

WASHINGTON, Tuesday, April 14, 2026 (WNP): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), on the sidelines of the World Bank–IMF Spring Meetings 2026, reaffirming strong bilateral economic cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, the finance minister expressed gratitude for SFD’s continued support and its ongoing and future development initiatives in Pakistan, underscoring the importance of sustained collaboration.

Senator Aurangzeb also referred to his recent engagement with Saudi Arabia’s finance minister prior to his departure for Washington, noting that the interaction reflected the depth and strength of ties between the two brotherly countries.

The two sides exchanged views on the implications of the ongoing Middle East conflict, particularly its impact on global energy security and the broader economic outlook. The finance minister expressed hope for an early resolution of the crisis and stressed the need for continued coordination.

Both sides reiterated their shared commitment to further strengthening economic and development cooperation, highlighting the longstanding and strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
