Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Friday, August 7, 2026 (WNP): Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, committing their countries to strengthening collective security, defence cooperation, peace and stability in the region and beyond.

The agreement was signed during the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit for Joint Defence, held at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah following the visit of President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the Kingdom at the gracious invitation of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at Al-Safa Palace, where the three leaders reviewed the distinguished relations between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan and discussed a range of issues of mutual interest.

The agreement builds on the longstanding historical, fraternal and Islamic ties among the three countries, as well as their shared strategic interests and established defence cooperation.

Under the landmark agreement, the three countries reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening collective security and deterrence, while promoting peace, security and stability in the region and beyond.

A key provision of the agreement stipulates that any armed attack against any one of the three states shall be regarded as an attack against all three, establishing a framework for coordinated collective defence against acts of aggression.

The agreement also provides for enhanced cooperation across all aspects of defence among Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan, further institutionalising their strategic security partnership.

The summit reflects the three countries’ shared determination to build a stronger framework of cooperation based on mutual security interests, Islamic solidarity and their longstanding relations, with the stated objective of contributing to a secure, peaceful and prosperous future.
