ISLAMABAD, Saturday, February 28, 2026 (WNP): Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation on Saturday with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi to discuss the rapidly evolving security situation in the Middle East.

According to diplomatic sources, the two leaders exchanged views on the ongoing regional escalation, expressing serious concern over continuing attacks across several countries, including reported strikes affecting Qatar.

Both sides underscored the urgent need for restraint and de-escalation to prevent further deterioration of the security environment, which has already disrupted civilian life, aviation operations and regional stability.

Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent position in favour of dialogue, diplomacy and respect for international law, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding civilian lives and critical infrastructure.

The Qatari minister briefed his Pakistani counterpart on developments from Doha’s perspective and highlighted the broader implications of the conflict for Gulf security and international peace.

The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact as the situation unfolds and to continue consultations aimed at supporting diplomatic efforts to restore calm in the region.

The exchange comes amid mounting international concern over expanding hostilities, with several countries urging immediate steps to prevent further escalation and return to negotiations.
