Pakistan Navy commissions new officers as Bahrain Naval Chief graces passing-out parade

RAWALPINDI, Saturday, December 27, 2025 (WNP): The Pakistan Navy marked a significant milestone with the commissioning of newly trained officers at the 124th Midshipmen and 32nd Short Service Commission (SSC) Passing-Out Parade held at the Pakistan Naval Academy (PNA), Karachi.

The ceremony saw the passing out of 90 Midshipmen and 34 SSC officers, symbolising the induction of a new cohort of officers into the naval service. Commander of the Royal Bahrain Naval Force, Rear Admiral Ahmed Mohamed Ebrahim Al Bin Ali, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Upon his arrival at the academy, he was received by Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), T Bt, Chief of the Naval Staff.

Addressing the parade, Rear Admiral Al Bin Ali—himself an alumnus of the Pakistan Naval Academy—expressed pride in reviewing the commissioning ceremony at his alma mater.

He lauded the Pakistan Navy’s professionalism and described it as a key regional maritime force. He also commended the academy’s longstanding tradition of imparting high-quality training to cadets from friendly countries, noting the presence of cadets from Bahrain, Iraq, the Republic of Djibouti, Sri Lanka and Türkiye in the graduating batch.

The Bahraini naval chief reaffirmed the enduring bonds between Pakistan and Bahrain, highlighting shared values, mutual trust and a common commitment to regional stability and progress.

During the ceremony, the Chief Guest awarded prizes to outstanding cadets. Midshipman Muhammad Uzair Abbas was awarded the coveted Sword of Honour for overall best performance, while Midshipman Shahab Ahmed received the Academy’s Dirk. The Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medals were awarded to Officer Cadet Umar Mukhtar of Pakistan and Officer Cadet Aldhahabi Fahad Husam Fareed of Iraq. Officer Cadet Syed Saad Shahid from the SSC course secured the Commandant Gold Medal, while the Proficiency Banner was claimed by Quarterdeck Squadron.

The commissioning parade was attended by senior military officers, distinguished guests, and proud family members of the graduating cadets, marking the culmination of rigorous training and the beginning of their professional careers in the Pakistan Navy.
