Pakistan, Iran pledge to deepen bilateral cooperation beyond diplomacy: Abdul Aleem Khan

ISLAMABAD, Thursday, October 16, 2025 (WNP): Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Thursday reaffirmed that Pakistan’s relationship with Iran is a deep-rooted and heartfelt bond – one that transcends traditional diplomacy and stands as a symbol of unity within the Muslim world.

Speaking at a luncheon hosted by the Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, the minister said, “Pakistan and Iran are two brotherly Islamic countries, united in spirit, and their friendship holds significance not only for this region but for the entire Muslim Ummah.”

During the meeting, both dignitaries exchanged warm and cordial remarks, reflecting the enduring spirit of friendship between the two nations.

Abdul Aleem Khan said that by the grace of Allah Almighty, Pakistan and Iran once again stand together in mutual goodwill, adding that whenever Iran has faced challenges, “every Pakistani, without distinction, has stood by our Iranian brothers.”

Underscoring the need to strengthen institutional collaboration, the minister urged for a comprehensive strategy and the removal of bureaucratic hurdles to expedite joint initiatives. He proposed involving the Ministries of Communications, Commerce, and National Food Security, alongside other relevant institutions, to enhance cooperation with Iran in key sectors.

He also pledged his personal and official support to further deepen bilateral relations, ensuring that Pakistan’s Ministry of Communications would remain at the forefront of fostering connectivity and collaboration.

Welcoming the minister, Ambassador Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam praised Abdul Aleem Khan’s leadership and strong performance in the federal cabinet. He expressed Iran’s keen interest in building long-term trade partnerships with Pakistan, particularly in sectors such as rice, seeds, and cotton, to ensure mutual economic benefit through imports and exports.

Describing the meeting as pleasant and productive, the Iranian envoy lauded the meaningful exchange of ideas and proposals aimed at expanding cooperation.

In conclusion, Abdul Aleem Khan thanked the ambassador for his hospitality and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening brotherly ties through practical and sustained engagement, emphasizing the importance of regular consultations to achieve tangible results.
