ISLAMABAD, Thursday, February 5, 2026 (WNP): Pakistan and China on Thursday reaffirmed their commitment to deepening security and counterterrorism cooperation as Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong called on Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the Ministry of Interior.
During the meeting, the two sides held detailed discussions on counterterrorism, internal security, and broader security cooperation, with particular emphasis on ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals and projects in Pakistan. The engagement reflected the continued close coordination between Islamabad and Beijing amid evolving regional and internal security challenges.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks targeting civilians and security forces in Balochistan, expressing heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and solidarity with the people of Pakistan.
He reiterated China’s firm opposition to terrorism in all its forms and underscored Beijing’s unwavering support for Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the Chinese ambassador on the security situation, stating that the incidents in Balochistan were the result of a planned and organized conspiracy. He noted that Pakistan’s security forces responded swiftly and effectively, neutralizing threats through timely and successful operations. The minister also outlined the special security measures being implemented to safeguard Chinese citizens and ongoing development projects.
“The security of Chinese nationals and projects is extremely important to us,” Mohsin Naqvi said, emphasizing that ensuring maximum protection for Chinese citizens remains a top priority for the government of Pakistan.
He announced the establishment of a Special Protection Unit dedicated specifically to Chinese security and highlighted that the use of modern Chinese technology and equipment would play a key role in coordinated counterterrorism operations.
The interior minister also shared details of his recent visit to China, describing it as productive and instrumental in further strengthening bilateral security cooperation. Both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in intelligence sharing, cybercrime prevention, and capacity building to address emerging security threats.
Reaffirming the depth of the Pakistan–China relationship, Mohsin Naqvi stressed that no hostile force could undermine the enduring friendship between the two countries. Ambassador Jiang expressed appreciation for the concrete steps taken by Pakistan to protect Chinese nationals, while the interior minister conveyed gratitude for China’s consistent and steadfast support for Pakistan.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the Interior Secretary, Special Secretary Interior, and senior officials from the Chinese Embassy were also present at the meeting, underscoring the high-level importance attached to strengthening the Pakistan–China strategic partnership.
