WASHINGTON, Tuesday, April 28, 2026 (WNP): Their Majesties the King Charles and Queen Camilla, having been welcomed to Washington, D.C. by the President of the United States Donald Trump and the First Lady Melania Trump, were taken on a tour of the newly unveiled and expanded White House beehive on the South Lawn.

During the visit, Their Majesties were shown the beehives located within the White House gardens, as part of the ongoing State Visit programme.

The White House beehives, first established in 2009, have remained an enduring feature of the grounds across successive administrations, producing honey for official use and symbolizing a commitment to environmental stewardship.

In 2026, First Lady Melania Trump enhanced the existing honey programme with the introduction of a hand-crafted hive shaped in the form of the White House. During the summer season, the hive hosts approximately 70,000 bees.

Their Majesties were briefed on the ecological importance of the initiative, which supports pollination, biodiversity, and environmental awareness.

The engagement highlighted shared priorities between the two countries on sustainability and conservation, reflecting a broader commitment to addressing global environmental challenges.
