KARACHI, Thursday, February 5, 2026 (WNP): The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Thursday hosted a vibrant and widely attended Karachi Festival at the historic Karachi Zoo, transforming the landmark into a lively center of culture, color, and community celebration.
The festival, featuring a large-scale Flower Show and a soulful Qawwali evening, attracted thousands of citizens from across the metropolis, reflecting strong public enthusiasm for cultural and recreational initiatives in the city.
The event was hosted by Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, who welcomed families, youth, artists, and civil society members as a refreshing and uplifting experience.
The zoo, traditionally known for its conservation and recreational role, underwent a striking visual transformation as floral arrangements, decorative lighting, and themed installations brought new life to its grounds. Fragrance, vibrant colors, and artistic displays created a festive atmosphere that resonated with visitors of all ages.
Adding to the cultural appeal, a Qawwali performance infused the evening with spiritual and Sufi traditions, drawing large audiences and creating moments of collective joy and reflection. Officials said the initiative reflects KMC’s broader vision to reclaim public spaces for community engagement, promote cultural harmony, and provide citizens with safe, inclusive recreational opportunities.
