ISLAMABAD, Sunday, March 1, 2026 (WNP): The Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran on Sunday strongly condemned a “cowardly, hideous and barbaric terrorist act” targeting the leadership of Iran, following the reported killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In an official statement, the embassy paid tribute to Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, recalling his bravery, resistance, steadfastness and lifelong devotion to the ideals of independence, dignity and resistance. The mission reaffirmed “unwavering solidarity with the noble aspirations of the Islamic Revolution” and pledged commitment to its enduring principles.
Describing the late Supreme Leader as a “great historical figure,” the statement drew parallels with Imam Hussein, saying he was martyred bravely and did not surrender in the face of adversity. It asserted that his death would strengthen rather than weaken the Islamic Republic.

“The blood of the Great Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran has made the ever-green sapling of the Islamic Republic more fertile and resilient,” the embassy said, adding that his struggles would remain recorded in history and serve as an inspiration for people seeking freedom and justice.
The statement stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is built upon “strong constitutional institutions and well-established legal mechanisms,” underscoring that the country would ensure continuity of leadership and governance in accordance with its Constitution.
It noted that, relying on the “solid structure established by the great Imams of the Islamic Revolution” and the sacrifices of martyrs, Iran would proceed with unity, resilience and determination to elect new leadership through constitutional procedures.
The embassy reiterated that the Islamic Republic would continue on its “spiritual and humane path” with steadfast resolve.
The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions following reports of a large-scale military strike that Iranian authorities say resulted in the death of the Supreme Leader and other senior officials. The situation remains fluid, with international reactions and diplomatic efforts continuing to unfold.
