RAWALPINDI, Tuesday, April 28, 2026 (WNP): The story of Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Shahzeb Rafi, recipient of the Tamgha-e-Basalat, highlights a distinguished example of professional resolve and operational excellence during Operation Marka-e-Haq.

During the operation, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Shahzeb Rafi was commanding an artillery unit deployed in support of ongoing defensive operations. On the night of 6–7 May 2025, following the targeting of civilians by the adversary, his unit was ordered to initiate counter-fire in response to the incident.

Demonstrating timely decision-making and effective coordination, the unit under his command carried out a robust counter-action that resulted in the destruction of hostile mortar positions, as well as the enemy’s brigade and battalion headquarters.

For his exemplary leadership, operational conduct, and professional performance during Operation Marka-e-Haq, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Shahzeb Rafi was awarded the Tamgha-e-Basalat.
