ISLAMABAD, Thursday, May 08, 2025 (WNP): Amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, the Government of Azerbaijan has extended its unequivocal support to Pakistan, calling for de-escalation through diplomacy and dialogue.

In an official communiqué addressed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, conveyed his government’s deep concern over the deteriorating regional situation and reaffirmed Baku’s solidarity with Islamabad during these critical times.

“The Government of Azerbaijan stands firmly with the people of Pakistan,” the Azerbaijani embassy in Islamabad said in a statement on Thursday. “Our support remains steadfast as the region navigates through these turbulent developments.”

Ambassador Farhadov condemned recent Indian military actions, expressing condolences to the families affected by the violence and offering prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.

Highlighting the importance of diplomacy, the envoy urged all parties to pursue peaceful resolution through dialogue, emphasizing that military confrontation would only deepen instability in the region.

The ambassador also expressed hope for the normalization of relations between Pakistan and India and called for immediate steps to mitigate the human and material loss inflicted—particularly on the Pakistani side.

The gesture comes at a time of heightened hostilities along the Line of Control and growing international concern over the possibility of a broader conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
