Army Chief reviews Lahore Garrison preparedness, reaffirms zero tolerance for threats to national security

RAWALPINDI, January 8, 2026 (WNP): Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), on Thursday visited Lahore Garrison, where he reviewed the formation’s operational readiness, training standards, and ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing combat effectiveness.

During the visit, the Army Chief was given a comprehensive briefing on the garrison’s preparedness and modernization efforts. He also witnessed a specialized field training exercise that demonstrated the integration of advanced technologies, reflecting the Pakistan Army’s focus on innovation and adaptability to meet the demands of an evolving and complex battlefield.

Field Marshal Asim Munir inspected sports and recreational facilities available to troops, underscoring their critical role in maintaining physical fitness, morale, and overall well-being. He emphasized that a healthy and motivated force is essential for sustained operational excellence.

The Army Chief also visited the High Care Center at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Lahore, where he commended the medical staff and administration for establishing a fully equipped, state-of-the-art healthcare facility to support both serving personnel and their families.

Addressing officers at the garrison, the COAS & CDF reiterated the Pakistan Army’s zero-tolerance policy toward any threat to national security. He reaffirmed the armed forces’ unwavering resolve to confront multifaceted challenges with professionalism, focus, and determination. Highlighting the institution’s core mission, he said the Pakistan Armed Forces remain steadfast in safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and internal stability, while promoting a culture of discipline, excellence, and selfless service to the nation.

Earlier, upon his arrival at Lahore Garrison, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was received by the Commander Lahore Corps.
