DALBANDIN, Saturday, January 31, 2026 (WNP): Security forces successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist attack on the headquarters of Dalbaldin Rifles early Saturday morning, neutralising all assailants and preventing civilian casualties, officials said.

According to security sources, the attack began with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) detonated near a corner check post of the Dalbaldin Rifles headquarters.

Following the explosion, the attackers fired rocket launchers at the facility in an apparent attempt to breach its perimeter.

Four terrorists subsequently entered the compound but were swiftly intercepted and cordoned off by security personnel in the Dairy Farm and family residential area of the campus. A heavy exchange of fire ensued, during which security forces maintained control of the situation and prevented the attackers from advancing further.

All families residing in the affected area were safely evacuated as a precautionary measure. After a sustained firefight, security forces neutralised all four terrorists. No fatalities were reported among security personnel or civilians. However, one junior commissioned officer (JCO) and one soldier sustained minor injuries during the exchange of fire and were provided medical treatment.

Officials said the swift response and effective containment by security forces averted a potentially major loss of life and damage. A clearance operation was carried out to secure the area, while investigations were launched to determine the identities of the attackers and the network behind the assault.

The incident comes amid heightened security vigilance in Balochistan, as authorities continue efforts to counter militant violence and ensure the safety of both security personnel and civilians across the province.
