First Lady Aseefa meets Bahrain’s Princess Sabeeka, emphasizes eomen’s empowerment, social development

MANAMA, Thursday, January 15, 2026 (WNP): First Lady of Pakistan Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari on Thursday called on Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King of Bahrain and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), at the Council’s headquarters in Manama.

The meeting focused on issues of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on women’s empowerment, social development, and the role of inclusive policies in advancing national progress.

Both sides underscored the importance of strengthening institutional frameworks that support women’s participation in education, health, and economic life.

First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari appreciated Bahrain’s efforts to promote gender equality through the Supreme Council for Women, describing the Council as a model for policy-driven social reform. She highlighted Pakistan’s own initiatives aimed at improving women’s access to education, healthcare, and opportunities for leadership.

Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa welcomed the Pakistani First Lady and reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to advancing the status of women as a cornerstone of sustainable development. She noted that regional and international cooperation can play a vital role in sharing best practices and strengthening women-focused institutions.

The meeting also explored avenues for enhanced collaboration between Pakistan and Bahrain in areas such as capacity building, policy exchange, and people-to-people contacts, particularly in initiatives centered on women and youth.

The visit reflected the growing depth of Pakistan–Bahrain relations and highlighted a shared commitment to inclusive growth, social welfare, and the empowerment of women as agents of positive change.
