RAWALPINDI, Thursday, January 15, 2026 (WNP): Pakistan Army and the United States Army are jointly conducting Exercise Inspired Gambit–2026, a two-week bilateral counter-terrorism training exercise aimed at strengthening operational cooperation and interoperability between the two forces, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The exercise, underway from January 8 to 16, marks the 13th iteration of the Inspired Gambit series, which has been held regularly since 1995 as part of long-standing military-to-military engagement between Pakistan and the United States.

A Distinguished Visitors’ Day was observed on Thursday at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Pabbi, where participants demonstrated a range of counter-terrorism drills and operational procedures. Ms. Natalie Baker, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States to Pakistan, attended the event alongside senior US military officials, while the Pakistan Army was represented by the Commander Rawalpindi Corps and other senior officers.

During the visit, the dignitaries were briefed on the scope, objectives and conduct of the exercise, which focuses on sharing best practices in counter-terrorism operations, refining tactical procedures, and enhancing coordination in complex security environments.

ISPR said troops from both armies displayed a high degree of professionalism, tactical competence and operational readiness, earning appreciation from the visiting delegations.

The exercise aims to deepen bilateral defence cooperation, promote mutual understanding through the exchange of counter-terrorism experiences, and improve interoperability between the two forces in addressing evolving security threats.

Military officials noted that such engagements contribute to regional and global security by reinforcing cooperation in counter-terrorism and building trust through sustained professional interaction between the armed forces of Pakistan and the United States.
