First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari meets Indonesian trade vice minister, showcases Sindh’s climate-resilient initiatives

KARACHI, Saturday, January 10, 2026 (WNP): First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari on Saturday met Indonesia’s Vice Minister for Trade, Ms Dyah Roro Esti Widya, in Karachi, where the two sides discussed avenues for enhanced cooperation, with a focus on climate resilience, women’s empowerment, and shared humanitarian concerns.

During the meeting, the First Lady highlighted Sindh’s world-record climate-resilient housing initiative, describing it as a landmark achievement in sustainable development and disaster preparedness. She underlined the project’s role in providing safe, dignified housing to vulnerable communities while setting an international benchmark for climate-adaptive infrastructure.

Aseefa Bhutto Zardari also emphasized the Sindh government’s efforts to advance women’s empowerment through inclusive policies, access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, noting that women’s participation is central to long-term social and economic resilience.

Both sides exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual concern, including their shared commitment to the Palestinian cause. They reaffirmed support for the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people and underscored the importance of continued international engagement on humanitarian principles.

The meeting reflected the growing engagement between Pakistan and Indonesia and underscored the potential for strengthened cooperation in trade, sustainable development, and people-centred initiatives.
