President Zardari arrives in Baghdad on four-day visit to strengthen Pakistan–Iraq ties

BAGHDAD, Saturday, December 20, 2025 (WNP): President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Baghdad on Saturday on a four-day official visit to Iraq, aimed at deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across political, economic and cultural spheres.

Upon arrival, the President was received by Iraq’s Minister for Culture, Dr. Ahmed Fakkak Al-Badrani, reflecting the importance both countries attach to the visit and to strengthening people-to-people and institutional links.

During his stay, President Zardari is scheduled to hold meetings with senior Iraqi leadership, focusing on ways to further advance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, development, and regional stability.

 

The visit is also expected to reinforce longstanding ties between Pakistan and Iraq and provide fresh momentum to bilateral engagement.

The visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to fostering closer relations with Iraq and to working jointly for peace, prosperity and cooperation in the wider region.
