PM Shehbaz lauds Saudi role in Middle East peace, Pakistan-India ceasefire

ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, July 2, 2025 (WNP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its constructive efforts toward promoting peace in the Middle East and its instrumental role in facilitating the ceasefire understanding between Pakistan and India.

During a meeting with Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al Malki, the prime minister fondly recalled his recent telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on June 24, in which the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz conveyed his deep respect and warm regards to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, lauding their continued commitment to regional peace and bilateral cooperation.

As Pakistan assumes the rotating Presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the month of July, the prime minister expressed hope for Saudi Arabia’s support during Islamabad’s tenure. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among key partners to ensure a productive and balanced UNSC presidency.

Ambassador Al Malki, in response, appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and regional stability, reaffirming Riyadh’s intention to work closely with Islamabad on issues of mutual concern.

The meeting reaffirmed the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, rooted in shared values, strong diplomatic ties, and a common vision for peace and prosperity in the broader region.
