RIYADH, Tuesday, June 24, 2025 (WNP): Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, held separate phone calls with the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the President of Iran on Tuesday, amid heightened regional tensions and efforts to uphold a newly brokered ceasefire.

In a conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the Crown Prince discussed ongoing regional developments and the significance of diplomatic engagement. Prime Minister Sharif lauded the Kingdom’s constructive role in promoting peace and emphasized the importance of sustained dialogue in addressing disputes. Both leaders welcomed the ceasefire agreement that came into effect earlier the same day and stressed the need for continued efforts to preserve regional stability and security.

In a separate call with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated the Kingdom’s support for diplomatic solutions to regional crises. He welcomed the ceasefire as a positive step towards reducing tensions, expressing hope that it would pave the way for broader stability. President Pezeshkian thanked Saudi Arabia for its condemnation of recent Israeli military actions and appreciated the Crown Prince’s leadership in promoting peace across the Middle East.

Earlier, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement endorsing U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of the ceasefire. The Kingdom expressed hope that all parties would adhere to the agreement, refrain from further hostilities, and commit to peaceful conflict resolution. The statement reiterated Saudi Arabia’s longstanding stance in favor of diplomacy, respect for state sovereignty, and regional de-escalation.

However, the Kingdom also voiced strong condemnation of what it called “unprovoked aggression” by Iran against the State of Qatar. The Foreign Ministry described the attack as a blatant violation of international law and the principles of good neighborliness. Riyadh declared full solidarity with Doha, pledging its complete support and offering all necessary assistance for any response measures Qatar may undertake.

These diplomatic engagements underscore Saudi Arabia’s expanding role as a regional power broker, navigating a complex web of alliances and rivalries amid escalating tensions and a fragile truce in the region.
