ISLAMABAD, Monday, June 23, 2025 (WNP): The National Security Committee (NSC), in a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday, strongly condemned Israel’s recent military aggression against Iran and called for resolving the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy in accordance with the UN Charter.
The NSC reviewed the rapidly evolving regional situation in the aftermath of Israeli strikes, expressing serious concern over the threat of a wider conflict and its implications for regional peace and stability.
The Committee voiced deep regret that the Israeli attacks occurred amid a constructive negotiation process between Iran and the United States. It described the military action as reckless and counterproductive, warning that such escalation undermines diplomatic avenues and raises the risk of further instability.
Reaffirming Iran’s legitimate right to self-defense under the UN Charter, the NSC extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Iran over the loss of innocent lives and wished a swift recovery to the injured.
The NSC also condemned the June 22 attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, declaring them a violation of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolutions, international law, and the UN Charter.
Reiterating Pakistan’s principled position, the Committee emphasized the urgent need to uphold international humanitarian and human rights laws. It further underlined Pakistan’s continued engagement with all relevant parties and reaffirmed its commitment to support efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability, and de-escalation in the region.
