ISLAMABAD, Friday, May 30, 2025 (WNP): The Embassy of Romania, in collaboration with the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), launched a unique set of opera singing courses on Friday in Islamabad, aiming to introduce Pakistani students to Romania’s rich musical heritage and promote cultural dialogue between the two countries.
The launch ceremony was attended by Romanian Ambassador Dr. Dan Stoenescu, Member of the National Assembly Farah Naz Akbar, PNCA Director General Muhammad Ayoub Jamali, and aspiring vocal students.
Renowned Romanian soprano Georgiana Costea-Gluga is leading the courses, which are designed to familiarize participants with the classical art of Romanian opera through hands-on training and performance techniques. The program includes vocal training, stagecraft, and musical interpretation, offering students a rare opportunity to learn the core elements of operatic performance from an international expert.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Stoenescu underscored the role of cultural exchange in deepening bilateral relations. “Through the universal language of music, we aim to build bridges between Romania and Pakistan, foster artistic collaboration, and promote mutual understanding,” he said.
Courses will be held twice a week at the PNCA, and are open to aspiring vocalists of all skill levels. Organizers say the initiative is a testament to the shared commitment of the Romanian Embassy and PNCA to expand artistic and educational opportunities, while enriching the cultural landscape of Pakistan.
Registration is currently open, with the program expected to attract a diverse group of participants interested in classical music and international cultural engagement.
