14th UAE Ambassador’s Cup Ramadan Football Tournament begins in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Saturday, February 21, 2026 (WNP): The 14th UAE Ambassador’s Cup Ramadan Football Tournament 2026 commenced in Islamabad, drawing a large gathering of diplomats, government officials and sports enthusiasts to mark the start of the annual sporting event.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Kuwait, the Ambassador of Lebanon, the Ambassador of Zimbabwe, and the Deputy Head of Mission of the United States, along with senior Pakistani government officials, members of the diplomatic community and media representatives.

Organized by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, the annual tournament is aimed at promoting sportsmanship, cultural exchange and community engagement during the holy month of Ramadan.

The event has become a regular feature of Islamabad’s diplomatic calendar, bringing together participants from diverse nationalities in a spirit of friendship and mutual respect.

According to the organizers, a total of 10 teams will compete in 22 matches over the course of the tournament. The fixtures are expected to offer competitive football while strengthening people-to-people connections among participating nations and communities.

 

The officials noted that sporting initiatives such as the UAE Ambassador’s Cup play an important role in fostering informal diplomacy, encouraging interaction beyond formal settings and reinforcing bonds between Pakistan and the international community during Ramadan.
