ISLAMABAD, Thursday, May 15, 2025 (WNP): Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday paid rich tributes to the armed forces and the people of Pakistan on the occasion of Youm-e-Tashakkur (Day of Gratitude), commemorating what they described as a resounding victory over Indian aggression.

In a statement marking the occasion, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif lauded the resilience, unity, and unwavering commitment of the Pakistani nation and its armed forces. He reiterated that Pakistan remained steadfast in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Our armed forces possess not only the capability but also the resolve to counter any malicious designs of the enemy,” the minister stated. While emphasizing Pakistan’s desire for peace, he made clear that this aspiration would never come at the expense of national dignity or sovereignty.

He called the military’s timely and resolute response to recent provocations a testament to its professionalism and readiness. “I extend heartfelt gratitude to the entire nation—especially our brave soldiers, the families of our martyrs, and all institutions contributing to national defence,” he said.

Highlighting national cohesion as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s strength, the defence minister urged citizens to renew their commitment to defend the country under all circumstances. “Let us strive together for peace, stability, and a brighter future,” he said, concluding with a resounding: “Pakistan Zindabad — Armed Forces of Pakistan Paindabad!”

Separately, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued a strongly worded statement, celebrating what he described as a “glorious and dignified victory” in the face of Indian hostility.

“We bow in prostration before Allah Almighty for this remarkable triumph,” Naqvi declared, crediting the valor of Pakistan’s armed forces and the unmatched sacrifices of its martyrs for the outcome.

Slamming India for what he termed a “cowardly” nighttime assault, Naqvi said, “As in the past, the enemy once again attempted to strike under the cover of darkness but faced a humiliating defeat.”

Claiming that Pakistan’s air force shot down six Indian fighter jets, Naqvi hailed it as a landmark moment in aerial combat. “Our fearless falcons turned Indian aircraft into dust, setting a new benchmark in modern air warfare,” he said.

He added that the swift withdrawal of Indian forces from the battlefield signaled their defeat. “The overconfident enemy fled within hours of its failed attack,” the minister noted.

Praising the military’s decisive response, Naqvi stated, “Every brick thrown at us was returned with a stone. This is a golden chapter in Pakistan’s military history.”

He underscored that the entire nation shared in the pride of the military’s success. “This victory belongs not just to our soldiers but to every Pakistani. Today, the entire nation stands tall,” he said.

Naqvi also paid tribute to the country’s military leadership, lauding Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar, and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf for their strategic acumen and courageous leadership.

“Under the wise and bold command of our services chiefs, Pakistan’s armed forces crushed the enemy’s plans and defended the motherland with unparalleled bravery,” he concluded.

The dual ministerial statements came amid a wave of public celebration and patriotic fervor across the country, reflecting a moment of heightened national unity in the face of external threats.
