ISLAMABAD, Monday, May 5, 2025 (WNP): Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong met with President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday to discuss key bilateral and regional developments, with a sharp focus on the recent escalation in Pakistan-India tensions following the Pahalgam incident.

According to the Presidency, the two sides held a detailed exchange on matters of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to peace, stability, and strategic cooperation in South Asia.

President Zardari voiced serious concern over what he described as “irresponsible and provocative rhetoric” emerging from the Indian government, warning that such statements risk undermining regional peace and destabilizing an already fragile geopolitical environment.

Ambassador Jiang reiterated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan, describing the two countries as “ironclad brothers” with a long-standing tradition of mutual trust and cooperation. He thanked President Zardari for sharing Pakistan’s perspective and assured him of Beijing’s consistent backing in pursuit of peace and shared regional objectives.

“China values its relationship with Pakistan and will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with its trusted partner in the face of regional challenges,” Ambassador Jiang said.

President Zardari expressed deep gratitude to the Chinese leadership for its steadfast support, highlighting that China has always stood by Pakistan during critical times. He noted that the strategic partnership between the two nations is a cornerstone of regional stability and development.

The meeting comes at a time of heightened diplomatic activity in Islamabad, as Pakistan seeks to rally international support amid growing tensions with its eastern neighbor.
