DPM/FM meets Chinese Foreign Minister on sidelines of SCO summit in Bishkek; discusses UNGA 2026 and UN Secretary-General election

BISHKEK, Tuesday, September 1, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting in Bishkek.

The two Foreign Ministers held a warm and cordial exchange, reaffirming the enduring All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, including preparations for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) 2026 in New York and the ongoing process for the election of the next Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The meeting reaffirmed the close strategic coordination between Pakistan and China on key regional and international issues and underscored the importance of continued high-level engagement between the two countries.
