Iranian President Pezeshkian accorded ceremonial welcome at Prime Minister’s House

ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, June 23, 2026 (WNP): President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, was accorded a warm ceremonial welcome at the Prime Minister’s House on Tuesday at the start of his official engagements during his state visit to Pakistan.

A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces presented a Guard of Honour to the visiting Iranian president, who reviewed the ceremonial parade.

The national anthems of Pakistan and Iran were played during the welcome ceremony, reflecting the longstanding friendship and close diplomatic ties between the two neighbouring countries.

President Pezeshkian was received by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif before proceeding to bilateral and delegation-level talks aimed at strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, energy, connectivity, regional security and other areas of mutual interest.

The ceremonial reception underscored the importance Pakistan attaches to its enduring relationship with Iran, which is rooted in shared history, common faith, cultural affinity and decades of close people-to-people ties.

President Pezeshkian’s state visit is expected to further deepen bilateral cooperation and reinforce the shared commitment of Islamabad and Tehran to promoting regional peace, stability and sustainable economic development.
