BAGHDAD, Sunday, June 28, 2026 (WNP): Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Baghdad on Sunday for an official visit aimed at holding high-level talks with Iraq’s senior leadership on bilateral relations, regional developments and issues of mutual interest.

During his visit, Araghchi is scheduled to meet top Iraqi officials to discuss ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two neighbouring countries and exchange views on the evolving regional security situation.

The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing political, economic and security cooperation, as well as recent diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting stability across the Middle East.

The visit comes amid intensified regional diplomatic engagement following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, with regional countries seeking to build on the momentum for dialogue and de-escalation.

Iran and Iraq maintain close political, economic and religious ties, and senior officials from both countries regularly consult on regional developments and issues affecting regional peace and security.
