Qatar, Saudi Arabia discuss regional developments, reaffirm support for US-Iran negotiations

DOHA, Wednesday, June 24, 2026 (WNP): Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud discussed bilateral cooperation and the latest regional developments during a telephone conversation on Wednesday, reaffirming their support for diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.

According to a statement issued by Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders reviewed the close bilateral relations between Qatar and Saudi Arabia and explored ways to further strengthen cooperation across areas of mutual interest.

The conversation also focused on recent regional developments, particularly diplomatic initiatives following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which seeks to advance dialogue and reinforce regional security.

Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar’s full support for the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, emphasizing that dialogue and peaceful diplomacy remain the most effective means of resolving outstanding issues and reducing regional tensions.

He expressed confidence that continued negotiations would help achieve sustainable solutions, strengthen regional security, create new opportunities for cooperation, development and prosperity, and advance the shared interests of the peoples of the region and the international community.

The two foreign ministers also underscored the importance of sustained consultation and coordination to support diplomatic initiatives that contribute to lasting peace, stability and constructive engagement across the Middle East.
