ISLAMABAD, Saturday, 13, June 2026 (WNP): The recent visit of Commander of the Turkish Land Forces General Metin Tokel to Pakistan has further underscored the deep-rooted brotherly relations and growing strategic partnership between Türkiye and Pakistan, reflecting the shared commitment of both countries to strengthening defence cooperation and promoting regional peace and stability.

During his visit, General Tokel held extensive discussions with Pakistan’s military and civilian leadership aimed at enhancing bilateral defence collaboration, professional exchanges and military-to-military cooperation.

A key highlight of the visit was his meeting with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces. The two military leaders exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, regional security developments and avenues for further strengthening defence ties between the armed forces of the two countries.

General Tokel also met Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu. The discussions were described as constructive and productive, contributing to greater strategic understanding and enhanced cooperation among the defence institutions of both countries.

On the second day of his visit, General Tokel called on Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif. The meeting reaffirmed the shared resolve of Türkiye and Pakistan to deepen defence cooperation and expand collaboration across various sectors of mutual interest.

As part of his engagements, the Turkish military commander also visited the National Defence University (NDU), where discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in military education, strategic studies, professional training and academic exchanges between the two countries.

The visit is being viewed as another reflection of the enduring friendship and strategic convergence between Türkiye and Pakistan, whose relations are often described as exemplary in the Muslim world. The two countries maintain close cooperation in defence, diplomacy, trade, education and people-to-people exchanges.

The visit comes at a time when both nations are seeking to further institutionalize defence collaboration through joint training programmes, defence-industrial cooperation and regular high-level military exchanges.

Officials on both sides emphasized that the Türkiye-Pakistan partnership remains a strong pillar of regional peace, security and stability, founded on mutual trust, shared values and longstanding historical ties.

“There is no daylight between Türkiye and Pakistan,” officials remarked, reiterating the spirit of brotherhood that continues to define relations between the two nations.

Türkiye–Pakistan friendship and brotherhood remain stronger than ever, reflecting a partnership built on common aspirations and an unwavering commitment to peace, security and prosperity.
