NEW DELHI, Thursday, May 14, 2026 (WNP): Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Elkhereiji represented Saudi Arabia at the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi on Thursday on behalf of Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
Addressing the meeting held under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” Elkhereiji highlighted the rapid technological and economic transformations shaping the global landscape and stressed the importance of enabling countries to keep pace with accelerating digital transformation, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence.
He said fair access to technology and digital capabilities remained essential for achieving balanced and sustainable development worldwide.

The Saudi vice minister emphasized that stability in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea was not only a regional concern but a cornerstone for global economic resilience and stability, particularly during periods of uncertainty and crises.
Expressing deep concern over recent attacks targeting Gulf countries and Jordan, Elkhereiji underscored the importance of de-escalation, restraint and adherence to international law while warning against steps that could further escalate regional tensions.
He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for continued dialogue among all concerned parties, including BRICS countries, to strengthen regional peace and security.
Elkhereiji further noted that the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea remained vital global trade corridors linking Asia and Europe, warning that any disruption to regional security would have immediate repercussions on global energy markets, inflation, sustainable development and international economic growth.
