Kazakhstan Envoy calls on Senate Chairman, reaffirms commitment to stronger bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD, Monday, May 4, 2026 (WNP): Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, called on Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at Parliament House on Monday, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

Welcoming the ambassador, the Senate chairman appreciated his active role in promoting Pakistan-Kazakhstan ties and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to its longstanding relations with Kazakhstan, based on mutual respect, shared values, and a common vision for regional peace and prosperity.

The two sides held detailed discussions on matters of mutual interest, including political and parliamentary cooperation, trade and economic collaboration, and regional connectivity.

Gilani described the recent visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pakistan as a landmark development that elevated bilateral ties to a strategic partnership.

Highlighting the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, he stressed the need to strengthen institutional linkages between the legislatures of both countries through regular exchanges and the reactivation of parliamentary friendship groups.

On economic cooperation, the chairman noted positive momentum in bilateral trade, particularly in agriculture, and emphasized the importance of enhanced connectivity, including direct air links, to boost trade, tourism, and people-to-people contacts.

Regional cooperation also featured prominently, with Gilani reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to promoting regional connectivity and market access, stressing that peace and stability are essential for sustainable economic growth.

Ambassador Kistafin appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and connectivity and expressed Kazakhstan’s interest in expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and agreed to further deepen engagement through sustained dialogue at all levels.
