PM Shehbaz, President Pezeshkian discuss regional peace efforts in 50-minute call

ISLAMABAD, Saturday, April 25, 2026 (WNP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday held a telephonic conversation with President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, during which the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation and ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability.

During the warm and cordial interaction that lasted around fifty minutes, both sides held a detailed exchange of views on key regional developments and the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement.

The Prime Minister appreciated the participation of a high-level Iranian delegation in talks held in Islamabad on April 11-12, and welcomed Tehran’s decision to send a delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, which held important meetings earlier in the day, including a detailed two-hour interaction with him.

Sharing an overview of his recent diplomatic outreach to global leaders, the Prime Minister said these engagements had helped build broader consensus in support of dialogue and diplomacy aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region.

He also expressed appreciation for the discussions held between the Iranian leadership and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir during his recent visit to Tehran.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s firm commitment to regional peace, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the country would continue its sincere and constructive efforts to promote peace and security.

President Pezeshkian, on his part, thanked the Prime Minister, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar for their contributions to ongoing peace efforts. He expressed Iran’s desire for stability and voiced confidence that fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran would continue to strengthen.

The Prime Minister also conveyed his respectful greetings to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination on matters of mutual interest and regional importance.
