Dar, Canadian FM discuss regional situation, stress dialogue, lasting peace

ISLAMABAD, Sunday, April 19, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand on Sunday, during which both sides reviewed ongoing regional developments and emphasized the importance of dialogue and stability.

According to diplomatic sources, the two leaders exchanged views on the evolving situation in the region, with the Canadian foreign minister appreciating Pakistan’s continued efforts to promote sustained dialogue and constructive engagement among relevant parties.

During the conversation, Anand expressed support for initiatives aimed at de-escalation and peaceful resolution of conflicts, acknowledging Islamabad’s role in encouraging diplomatic engagement.

Both sides also expressed hope for achieving lasting peace and a durable ceasefire across the region, including in Lebanon, amid ongoing tensions.
