ISLAMABAD, Sunday, April 12, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday expressed gratitude to the United States and Iran for responding to Pakistan’s call for an immediate ceasefire and agreeing to hold peace talks in Islamabad.

In his concluding remarks at the Islamabad Talks, Dar acknowledged the participation of high-level delegations led by US Vice President J. D. Vance and Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

He said Pakistan, alongside Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, facilitated multiple rounds of “intense and constructive negotiations” between the two sides, which continued over the past 24 hours.

Expressing appreciation to both delegations, Dar noted that their engagement reflected confidence in Pakistan’s role as a mediator and its efforts to help achieve a ceasefire.

“We hope that the two sides continue with the same positive spirit to achieve durable peace and prosperity for the entire region and beyond,” he said.

The deputy prime minister emphasized the importance of upholding the ceasefire, terming it essential for maintaining stability and advancing the dialogue process.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment, Dar said Islamabad would continue to facilitate engagement between Washington and Tehran in the days ahead, underscoring its ongoing role in promoting dialogue and regional peace.
