ISLAMABAD, Friday, April 10, 2026 (WNP): The Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, has expressed optimism about upcoming negotiations with Iran, while emphasizing that progress will depend on Tehran’s willingness to engage in good faith.
Speaking to reporters ahead of departure, Vance said the United States is looking forward to the talks and hopes for a positive outcome.
“If the Iranians are willing to negotiate in good faith, we’re certainly willing to extend the open hand,” he said.
At the same time, he cautioned that any attempt to undermine the process would be met with a firm response, noting that the U.S. negotiating team would not be receptive to tactics perceived as insincere.
Vance added that the administration of Donald Trump has provided clear guidelines for the engagement, underscoring Washington’s intent to pursue a constructive yet cautious diplomatic approach.
The remarks come amid renewed diplomatic activity surrounding efforts to ease tensions between Washington and Tehran, with multiple international stakeholders supporting dialogue and de-escalation.
The statements reflect a calibrated U.S. stance—balancing openness to negotiations with a clear insistence on credible and result-oriented engagement—as global attention remains focused on the prospects for a sustained diplomatic breakthrough.
