DOHA, Saturday, March 28, 2026 (WNP): President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has underscored Ukraine’s growing role in international security cooperation, as Ukrainian experts continue to assist Qatar in strengthening its air defense and protection systems.
During his visit to Doha, Zelenskyy met with a team of Ukrainian specialists currently working in Qatar and received a detailed briefing on their ongoing efforts. He said the experts had conducted a comprehensive assessment of the country’s security environment, including its capacity to counter aerial threats, and had proposed concrete measures to enhance airspace protection.

The Ukrainian president noted that the team’s work had been positively received at the highest level, including during his meeting with the Amir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who appreciated the consultations and expertise provided.
Zelenskyy highlighted that ballistic missiles and drones represent the most pressing security challenges in the region. While acknowledging that advanced air defense systems remain essential to counter ballistic threats, he emphasized Ukraine’s development of cost-effective solutions to tackle drone attacks.

“These solutions have already proven their effectiveness against various types of drones, which is why Qatar is so interested in our experience,” he said.
The president reiterated Ukraine’s willingness to share its expertise with partners, stressing that such cooperation contributes to mutual security benefits. He added that Qatar has shown readiness for long-term collaboration across multiple sectors, particularly in defense and security.

Zelenskyy also called for broader regional stability, warning against the impact of ongoing Iranian strikes and emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to safeguard civilian lives.
“It is important to restore stability in the region so that no one suffers,” he said, adding that international cooperation remains key to enhancing global security.
The visit reflects Ukraine’s expanding diplomatic and security outreach in the Gulf region, as Kyiv seeks to strengthen partnerships while sharing its battlefield-tested expertise in countering modern threats.
