PM Shehbaz reaffirms solidarity with Iran, condemns Israeli attacks in call with President Pezeshkian

ISLAMABAD, Saturday, March 28, 2026 (WNP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday held a telephone conversation with Masoud Pezeshkian, reaffirming Pakistan’s strong condemnation of continued Israeli strikes on Iran and expressing solidarity with its people amid escalating tensions in the region.

During the call, the prime minister denounced the ongoing attacks by Israel on Iranian territory, including the latest strikes on civilian infrastructure, and conveyed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Iran in what he described as challenging times.

Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed deep condolences over the loss of more than 1,900 lives in the attacks, terming them a tragic human toll, and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured as well as relief for those displaced.

He also apprised President Pezeshkian of Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic outreach aimed at de-escalation, noting that efforts are being undertaken by himself, the deputy prime minister, and Syed Asim Munir to engage the United States, brotherly Gulf nations and other Islamic countries to help create a conducive environment for peace talks.

The prime minister emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in promoting dialogue and stability in the region.

President Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s support and engagement, while both leaders agreed on the importance of continued cooperation to advance peace efforts.

The conversation reflects growing diplomatic engagement among regional stakeholders amid heightened tensions and underscores Pakistan’s proactive role in seeking a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
