ISLAMABAD, Thursday, June 19, 2025 (WNP): The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has successfully concluded a nationwide series of eye treatment camps across Pakistan under the Noor Saudi Volunteer Program 2025, offering life-changing vision care to tens of thousands in underserved communities.
Organized in partnership with Al-Basar International Foundation and Al-Ibrahim Eye Hospital in Karachi, the initiative spanned eleven free eye care camps across both urban centers and remote areas in Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The program was designed to identify, treat, and prevent avoidable visual impairments, with a particular focus on financially disadvantaged populations and regions lacking access to specialized ophthalmic services.
Over the course of the campaign, 43,294 individuals received eye examinations, while 4,484 patients underwent surgeries to treat cataracts and other debilitating eye conditions. In addition, 11,050 pairs of corrective eyeglasses were distributed, and essential medications were provided on-site by qualified medical professionals.
The camps were held in diverse locations—including Karachi, Matli, Kundairo, Shikarpur, Hyderabad, Naseerabad, Kharan, Khuzdar, Jhelum, and Rawalakot—ensuring that support reached areas with the greatest need. Each site was selected to maximize outreach and provide critical eye care services to residents with limited or no access to vision health facilities.
This initiative highlights Saudi Arabia’s strong commitment to advancing global health and eradicating preventable blindness. By delivering high-quality, free eye care services, KSrelief continues to uphold its humanitarian mission of improving lives and restoring hope to vulnerable communities worldwide.
The Noor Saudi Volunteer Program is a testament to the Kingdom’s proactive role in medical outreach, reflecting both compassion and strategic planning in addressing public health challenges beyond its borders.
