ISLAMABAD, Monday, October 20, 2025 (WNP): Uzbekistan Airways, the national flag carrier of Uzbekistan, has announced a major expansion of its flight operations between Tashkent and Islamabad, doubling its weekly frequency from one to two flights effective October 28, 2025.

The decision reflects the airline’s commitment to strengthening air connectivity between Uzbekistan and Pakistan amid growing travel demand from business communities, tourists, and families on both sides.

Uzbekistan Airways said the move comes in response to “high and consistent passenger demand,” with existing Islamabad flights operating at full capacity and often selling out days in advance.

Currently, the airline operates two weekly flights on the Tashkent–Lahore–Tashkent route and one weekly service on Tashkent–Islamabad–Tashkent, which will now increase to two.

The expanded schedule will offer greater flexibility and convenience for Pakistani travelers, enabling easier access to Uzbekistan and onward global destinations via Tashkent International Airport, a key regional hub connecting over 50 cities across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia.

Popular onward destinations for passengers flying from Pakistan include Istanbul, Frankfurt, Paris, London, New York, Moscow, Tokyo, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Baku, and Astana.

The enhanced route is also expected to strengthen tourism cooperation between the two nations. Uzbekistan’s ancient Silk Road cities—Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, and Kokand—continue to attract growing interest among Pakistani travelers eager to explore shared Islamic heritage and cultural ties. In return, improved air access is likely to encourage more Uzbek visitors to discover Pakistan’s natural beauty, hospitality, and historic landmarks.

A spokesperson for Uzbekistan Airways said the expansion aligns with the shared vision of Uzbekistan and Pakistan to promote regional trade, tourism, and connectivity under broader Central and South Asian cooperation frameworks.

“This development represents more than an increase in flight frequency — it is a bridge connecting people, economies, and cultures,” the airline noted.

Founded in 1992, Uzbekistan Airways operates passenger and cargo services to more than 50 destinations worldwide, maintaining a strong safety record and reputation for reliability. Its main hub, Tashkent International Airport, serves as one of the most strategically located gateways linking East and West.

With the new flights, the skies between Tashkent and Islamabad are set to become not just air routes, but bridges of friendship — strengthening people-to-people ties and connecting Pakistan more seamlessly to the world through Uzbekistan.
